Takapuna Grammer Science Department
Redevelopment & Art Department Extension
S&T is currently leading two renovation projects for the Ministry of Education at Takapuna Grammar on the North Shore in Auckland. The projects are part of a complex $8M redevelopment project at the school which caters to more than 1600 students from Years 9 to 13.
The project includes the redevelopment of the school’s science precinct and a new extension to another existing building to house a new art department.
The Science Precinct (N Block) Redevelopment centralises the Science Department into one area of the school. It includes a Modern Learning Environment with four science laboratories located around a central learning common/breakout space. This allows students and staff to share resources and improves communication and collaboration with better visibility and monitoring. This central space has been created by enclosing an outdoor courtyard with a high roof, allowing for natural ventilation and light through a full-length clerestory in the structure.
The new classroom extension to the Sir Peter Blake Building will house the Art Department - Stage 1 in the creation of a renovation and L-shaped extension to this building which has been plagued by weathertightness issues.
