Here at S&T we pride ourselves in not just saying we’re Architects and Engineers but truly functioning as a multidisciplinary practice. Our lighting designers are a cross pollination of Architecture and Engineering and therefore need to have a deep understanding of both the aesthetic and technical elements of light.
To work smarter, we have engaged Alex Page from Revit Works to develop a set of lighting families within Revit (our 3D modelling software) that works just like magic. These families come with preloaded typical information so accurate lighting of an environment can be viewed already from an early architectural concept stage.
All families have correct dimensions with embedded light distribution data. That means the Engineer will see the lumianire with all necessary data and electrical properties while the Architect will see the shape, size and lighting effect. On a rendering they will appear with the right materials and a light distribution that is true to the final product so you can truly see how your design will look.
With all parameters preloaded into the families, scheduling becomes a breeze and we can concentrate on providing good designs rather than modelling.
