The role of Principal in S&T is not one for the faint hearted or inexperienced. Its an industry leadership role which is respected by peers, clients and the firm and recognised as only for professionals at the peak of their careers. When we recently looked to expand our firm we quickly identified four fresh thought leaders from our own team who have demonstrated their expertise and have now been appointed as Principals of S&T.
Tymen Tolsma is leading our architectural teams in the tertiary education sector having recently completed the delivery for the Biosciences Centre Extension at the University of Auckland and is promoting the firm’s cultural design capability throughout the Pacific.
Murray Robertson, architect and Green Star Accredited Professional, is well known for his award winning design of the MAF Multipurpose building and has specialist expertise in laboratory buildings as well as in designing 21st Century Learning Environments for new and redeveloped primary and secondary schools.
Glen Wright, also a Green Star Accredited Professional, has developed an expert team in light engineering which is delivering sports field and arena [Te Rauparaha] lighting solutions for Councils and sports clubs that significantly increase utilisation and which win awards for energy efficiency.
Bernd Gundermann, architect and urban designer, has brought a career long base of experience from the design houses of Europe to New Zealand where his flare for innovative design that extends function yet inspires the people he is creating for is bringing a new edge and exciting style to the strengths of S&T.
Appointing four new Principals has significantly expanded the firm’s architectural and engineering reach. With 11 Principals now focused on serving our clients and helping them to create their own inspiring environments, S&T is positioned to continue making a significant contribution to our built environment in New Zealand as well as across the Pacific and into Asia.
