Lama Tone

B.Arch (Hons), M.Arch (Hons)

He tāngata, He tāngata, He tāngata - For Lama, good architecture is all about people and his work as an architect had touched many communities regionally and internationally. Prior to joining S&T, Lama worked as a solo practitioner as well as an architectural consultant to other architects, planners, students and community groups. He is also a part-time design tutor and guest lecturer at the University of Auckland’s School of Architecture.

Lama specialises in Education, Residential and Light Commercial architecture and has built a strong focus in community projects (including schools, churches and community hubs) across New Zealand and the South Pacific.

His background as an international and professional rugby player has helped him thrive in team situations and he is passionate in applying a people-led approach to architecture. Lama enjoys exploring and finding new ways to contribute to the NZ vernacular discourse as well as across the South Pacific.

Lama loves to spend his spare time with his family and enjoys being outdoors kayak fishing and camping. You may often find him enjoying old school RnB or keeping fit with boxing, basketball or golf.
