Following on from FMG’s Corporate Office in Wellington S&T were asked to refurbish the Head Office in Palmerston North where they had been based for a number of years in a building famous for it’s ‘crystaline’ shape. This presented unique challenges for interior design.
Split over three levels and requiring a shift to a total open plan office the concept required an appearance and organisational layout much the same as the Wellington office. Project Management complexities were introduced as the space was to remain occupied, so a transition floor was required. The inspiration came from the FMG brand and the building’s design. Exploiting the angles of the exterior windows, desks in the new open-plan environment are turned 45 degrees – providing a new, modern look, enhanced by natural light and giving better views, for more people.
Other aspects to be improved include; new furniture, new meeting rooms, upgraded HVAC and a top-storey café providing a relaxing break space for the staff.
