S&T was commissioned to integrate and connect a new flexible learning block to blend in with Avonhead School’s existing material palette.

The two main learning hubs of Block 20 are divided by a functional core which houses a creative ‘making space’ and washrooms.  Internal walls and raised platforms with steps create different sized zones allowing students to learn in a variety of ways across the interconnected building.

A mono-pitch roof extends over the building to cover an outdoor decking area providing an extra learning space and protecting schoolbags stored outside.

Principal Charles Levings notes, “We are thrilled the continuation of decking inside Block 20 creates two distinct spaces while helping provide added seating – it adds a dimension the children really enjoy.”
